About Us
Some communities are built on streets and boundaries. Ours was built on a single Ganpati idol, a handful of folding chairs, and neighbors who decided that celebrating together mattered more than celebrating alone.
Our Story
In 2009, a small group of residents in Mankhurd pooled together whatever little they had and organized a modest Ganesh Chaturthi celebration for the families living around them. Nobody expected it to become anything more than a kind gesture for the neighborhood. But something happened that first year that nobody could have predicted. People who came as guests left already planning to return the following year.
What followed was fifteen years of quiet, steady growth. Every year, a few more families joined the circle. The Aarti got a little louder, the Dahi Handi climbed a little higher, and the pandal grew a little bigger to hold everyone who wanted to be part of it. Somewhere in those years, Shiv Maratha Mitra Mandal stopped being an event committee and became a family that thousands of people now proudly call their own.
We have organized more than fifty events since that first modest gathering and gathered over twenty thousand moments that our members still scroll back through every festival season. But the story was never only about the celebrations. Behind every Ganesh Visarjan and every Janmashtami lies a quieter story of neighbors helping neighbors, of young volunteers finding purpose, and of elders finding a family that never stopped needing them.

Our grandparents carried these traditions across generations so we would never forget where we come from. We intend to carry them just as far, so our children never have to wonder either.

Every rupee donated and every hour volunteered is something we are proud to stand behind, because trust is the one thing a community cannot survive without.
Inclusion
Nobody has ever been asked where they come from before being welcomed into this Mandal. We learned early on that a community grows strongest when everyone has a seat at the table.
